The MYSY Scholarship (Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana) is one of Gujarat’s most popular scholarship programs for higher education students. Launched by the Gujarat government, MYSY supports students from the General and EWS (Economically Weaker Section) categories who scored well in Class 12 or diploma courses and want to pursue professional degrees in engineering, medical, pharmacy, and other fields.
While RTE Gujarat provides free education from Class 1 to 8 in private schools, MYSY picks up where RTE leaves off — supporting deserving students through college and professional education.
For families who benefited from the RTE scheme during their child’s primary education, MYSY represents the next chapter of government support.
What Is MYSY?
MYSY stands for Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana, which translates to “Chief Minister’s Youth Self-Reliance Scheme.” It provides financial assistance to cover tuition, hostel, and examination fees for eligible students pursuing higher education after Class 12.

The scholarship is specifically designed for General category and EWS students in Gujarat — a segment that does not have access to the SC/ST/OBC post-matric scholarships available through the Digital Gujarat Scholarship portal.
The official MYSY portal is mysy.guj.nic.in.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for MYSY Scholarship in Gujarat, the student must meet the following requirements.
- Academic qualification: The student must have scored 80% or above in Class 12 (HSC) from the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) or an equivalent board. For diploma students, the requirement is 65% or above.
- Category: The student must belong to the General category or the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category. Students from SC, ST, OBC, and SEBC categories are not eligible for MYSY — they should apply for post-matric scholarships through the Digital Gujarat Portal instead.
- Income limit: The annual family income must not exceed ₹6,00,000 (six lakh rupees). This limit aligns with the EWS criteria used in other Gujarat schemes, including those for RTE Gujarat.
- Residency: The student must be a permanent resident of Gujarat with a valid domicile certificate.
- Course: The student must be enrolled in a professional course at a recognized institution. Eligible courses typically include engineering (B.E./B.Tech), medical (MBBS/BDS), pharmacy (B.Pharm), nursing, architecture, agriculture, and other approved professional programs.
Scholarship Amount
The MYSY scholarship covers the actual fees charged by the institution, subject to the following components: tuition fees (up to the ceiling set by the Fee Regulatory Committee for private institutions), hostel fees (if the student resides in a hostel), and examination fees.
The exact amount varies by institution and course. For government engineering colleges, tuition fees are relatively low (₹5,000-15,000 per year), so the scholarship easily covers the full amount. For private institutions, the scholarship covers fees up to the FRC-approved ceiling.
All payments are made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the student’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.
How to Apply for MYSY Scholarship

- Step 2: Register as a new student by providing your personal details, Class 12 marksheet information, college admission details, and bank account details.
- Step 3: Log in with your credentials and complete the scholarship application form.
- Step 4: Upload the required documents, including Class 12 marksheet, college fee receipt, income certificate (from the Mamlatdar, issued within the last 6 months), Aadhaar card, domicile certificate, bank passbook, and college bona fide certificate.
- Step 5: Submit the application. Note down the application reference number.
- Step 6: The application is verified at the institution level and then at the government level. Once approved, the scholarship amount is transferred directly to your bank account.
Application Timeline
MYSY applications typically open after Class 12 results are announced. The usual timeline is: Class 12 results in May-June, MYSY registration opens in July-August, application deadline in September-October, and scholarship disbursement begins in November-December.
Exact dates for 2026 will be announced on the MYSY portal. Check mysy.guj.nic.in regularly after Class 12 results.
Scholarship Renewal
MYSY scholarship is not automatic for subsequent years. Students must apply for renewal each year. Renewal requires maintaining minimum academic performance (typically 50%+ in university exams) and submitting updated fee receipts and academic records.
Failure to renew means the scholarship stops for that year. Set calendar reminders for the renewal window.
MYSY vs Digital Gujarat Scholarships
Many students get confused about the difference between the MYSY and Digital Gujarat scholarships. Here is the distinction: MYSY is exclusively for General and EWS students pursuing professional courses after Class 12. Digital Gujarat scholarships cover SC, ST, OBC, SEBC, NTDNT, and Minority students from pre-metric (Class 1-10) to post-metric and professional levels.
If you belong to SC/ST/OBC categories, apply through the Digital Gujarat portal, not MYSY. If you belong to the General/EWS category, MYSY is your primary option.
